UNILAG alumni begin week, offer scholarships
The Lagos State branch of the University of Lagos Alumni Association would commence its 2018 Alumni Week on March 13 to 18.
At a press briefing to herald the alumni week, chairman of the association, Dr. Lukman Adeoti, said the body in partnership with the school management, intends to unveil a scholarship scheme tagged SOUP (Support Our University Projects) that will help indigent student in payment of their fees.
He said apart from indigent students, SOUP would give scholarships to students on first class grade whose CGPA is 4.5 and above. The gesture would also be extended to winners of its education contest in innovation and research in science and technology as well as three best graduating students in each faculty.
Adeoti added that the one week programme will feature lot of activities such as health day talk on ‘anger management’, special jumat prayer on Friday March 17, sports day on Saturday, a thanksgiving service on Sunday morning, followed later in the day with an annual general meeting, election and an alumni get-together and award dinner.
“We give N150,000 to 20 students every year and we bought a special computer for a blind man, among the things we have done.”
