TikTok content creator, Love Dooshima, has alleged that she was treated like a criminal and subjected to degrading remarks after honouring a police invitation linked to her viral bread review video.

In a video posted on her TikTok handle on Wednesday, Dooshima said she visited the police station expecting a fair hearing but claimed she was instead met with hostility and predetermined conclusions.

She said she was invited over a case involving her viral commentary on bread, but alleged that her phone was seized upon arrival and her movements restricted.

“I went to the station to honour the invitation… and everything that happened showed my case was determined and concluded before I got there,” she said.

Dooshima further alleged that senior police officers accused her of chasing “cheap popularity” and dismissed her claims as unprofessional.

She said, “The AIG accused me of seeking cheap popularity… and said I am not an expert and should speak on what I know.”

The TikToker insisted her video was part of ongoing discussions on health and food safety, not an attempt to defame any business.

She also claimed she was pressured to surrender a bread sample used in the viral video, which she refused, stating it was needed for her personal protection.

According to her, her refusal led to an immediate detention order, which she said was signed by the investigating officer.

Dooshima further alleged that she was verbally abused while in custody, including remarks referencing her status as a widow, and that her health concerns were ignored despite repeated pleas.

However, the Nigeria Police Force has denied that she was detained. Police spokesperson Aliyu Giwa stated that she was not held in custody.

Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong also disclosed that Dooshima was released around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday following intervention by senior police authorities.

The controversy stems from a viral video in which Dooshima questioned the freshness of a loaf of bread she claimed remained edible for nearly two months, sparking widespread debate on food safety and consumer rights.

The bakery involved, Bon Bread, had filed a complaint alleging reputational damage, while its founder, Maria Abdulkadir, maintained that the company adheres to required safety standards.

The incident continues to generate public reaction online, with many Nigerians questioning the handling of the matter by law enforcement and the broader implications for consumer advocacy and free expression.
