The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector Command, on Wednesday secured the conviction of 25 traffic offenders during a mobile court sitting held at its headquarters.
According to a statement by the command spokesperson, Afolabi Odunsi-Oyewole, the proceedings were presided over by Chief Magistrate O.T. Odubanjo at the FRSC Ogun State Command headquarters.
The exercise was part of ongoing efforts to enforce road discipline and curb critical safety violations across major highways in the state.
A total of 25 offenders were arraigned for 46 traffic-related offences, with all cases resulting in convictions. However, no offender was sentenced to imprisonment.
Odunsi-Oyewole explained that the offences included speed limit device violations, driver’s licence infractions, overloading, seatbelt violations, as well as vehicle licence and number plate offences.
“The 46 documented offences primarily involved critical safety breaches including speed limit device and driver’s licence violations, overloading, seatbelt infractions, vehicle licence and number plate offences,” he said.
The Corps Commander in the state, Oludare Ogunjobi, described the mobile court exercise as a key part of the agency’s enforcement strategy to reduce road crashes and fatalities.
He said the convictions reflect the agency’s commitment to its “zero tolerance” stance on traffic violations, stressing that the initiative is aimed at improving safety for motorists and pedestrians.
Ogunjobi added that the outcome of the exercise reinforces the FRSC’s resolve to hold road users accountable and ensure compliance with traffic regulations across Ogun State.
