Ajayi Sad To Miss Super Eagles, Poland Friendly; Vows To Fight For World Cup Spot

Al Ahly of Egypt forward Junior Ajayi is disappointed he won’t be part of Nigeria’s squad to face Poland in Friday’s friendly encounter in Wroclaw after he failed to secure visa to travel for the game but has vowed to work hard to earn a place in the country’s squad to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, reports Completesportsnigeria. com.
Ajayi who earned his first senior call-up to the Super Eagles after a number of impressive displays for Al Ahly in the Egyptian league and the CAF Champions League is now expected to link up with his teammates in London this weekend for the Super Eagles second friendly game against Serbia next week Tuesday.
The former CS Sfaxien of Tunisia striker was hoping to use the friendly games to stake a claim for a place in the team ahead of Russia 2018 but now have only the Serbia friendly to show his quality to the coaches.
“Junior is very disappointed he won’t have the chance to play against Poland. He was really happy with his invitation and was keen to play for the Super Eagles for the first time,” a source close to the player revealed to Completesportsnigeria. com.

“But he is prepared to make use of the little time he has to show his quality.
“He is determined to make the final 23 to the World Cup and will fight hard to earn a place in the team.”
Ajayi, who won the Egyptian Premier League title with Al Ahly has scored eight goals and recorded nine assists in 24 games for the nine-time African champions this season. He was alson named the best foreign player in Egypt.
