JORDAN IBE GETS OFFER TO REPRESENT NIGERIA AT THE WORLD CUP
Former Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe has reportedly received an offer by
coach of the Nigerian team Gernot Rohr to represent Nigeria at the
World Cup in Russia.
22-year-old Ibe turned down the chance to represent Nigeria in 2015,
when former coach of the team Sunday Oliseh tried to lure him, shortly
after his breakthrough at Liverpool.
His form at Bournemouth has improved tremendously this season after
shaking off the pressure of the £15m transfer fee tag paid to
Liverpool for his signature two seasons ago.
This season he has seven assists in all competitions with a goal to
his name, but his all round play has been impressive, and it had led
to talks of a possible call up by England manager Gareth Southgate who
managed him at U-21 level with the English national team.
A source close to the player claimed he was offered a chance to
represent Nigeria at the World Cup in Russia later this year, but he
is yet to consider the offer as he is still hoping of forcing his way
into the squad of the Three Lions.
