OSUN ELECTION: HEAVY SECURITY AS INEC DISPENSES ELECTION RESOURCES

The Nigeria Police have intensified security arrangement in all the headquarters of Independent National Electoral Commission in Osogbo, toward the governorship election scheduled to hold on Saturday in the State.
In all the INEC offices in the 30 local government areas of the state, the presence of numerous security officers was seen as the commission instigated the circulation of delicate resources in Osun state.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the State, Olusegun Agbaje, said that election materials had been circulated to the local government areas in preparation for the election on Saturday.
He said, “The election materials have all been transported to the local government areas. We started distributing them this morning and we completed it this evening. They have all been moved and they are all at the local government including smart card readers. They are being watched by security men and nothing can tamper with them.
“We are ready for the Saturday election and we want to assure
everybody that the election will be credible and security operatives would ensure that it is violence-free as well.”
The presence of armed security operatives situated tactically around the INEC edifice to evade any outbreak on the building was observed on Thursday at the INEC office. Officers of the Counter Terrorism Unit were also at the premises.
At the entrance of INEC headquarters in Osogbo, The Nigeria Police CTU built a blockade and also a shelter where they observed and regulate all access to the premises.
The Police CTU built a barricade in front of the INEC headquarters in Osogbo while members of the unit also built a shelter from where they watched and control access to the place.
