WOLE SOYINKA’S ‘AKE’ FILM RELEASED ON AMAZON

Wole Soyinka’s “Ake” film version is now on Amazon and other online platforms. The director of the movie, Dapo Adeniyi, made this known on Thursday.
The story entails the typical childhood account of the Nobel laureate, and blends a lovely child-view tale with echoes from the World War II as it was the settings of the movie. Ake abstracted Soyinka’s hometown in Abeokuta and got its peaks with the Egba women’s riot of 1945, steered by Mrs Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, mother of the late performer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
Ake was shot at several scenes in Lagos, Ibadan, Abeokuta and East Grinstead, UK, the film has been vetted in Lagos and at film festivals in Cannes, France and the United States.
The film featured the performers of almost 1,000 actors and actresses, including some of Nigeria’s notableexperts in the film and theatre industries, which include;Yinka Davies, Yeni-Anikulapo-Kuti, Jimi Solanke, Festus AdegboyeOnigbinde, Alex Bratt, GbengaAjiboye, Joke Muyiwa, YemiSolade among others.
