Two Chilean Catholic Bishops have joined the list of the clerics who have stepped them after the outbreak of a sexual abuse scandal in the Roman Catholic.
Head of the Roman Catholic worldwide, Pope Francis said in Vatican statement on Friday, that he has received the resignation letters of Bishop Carlos Barrera of the Diocese of San Bartolome de Chillian, and Bishop Cristian Molina of the Diocese of San Felipe, making the number of those who have taken same decision to seven.
Meanwhile, The Pope has appointed other Bishops as commissioners, known as Apostolic Administrators to run the office until further notice.
About three months ago, all of the country’s Bishops had offered to step down en masse in an emergency meeting with the Pope over allegations of a covered up sex scandal.
