WAR, A CANKERWORM WOVEN INTO OUR DNA

Read Time:1 Minute, 34 Second

In white mans world; blacks unite against the common oppressor.  They stand shoulder to shoulder fighting injustice, inequality and civil rights. Let’s think for a minute that all this is now available to the black race. We have equal standings with our white counterparts… You would assume that we will all go home and share a Calabash of Palmwine or umqombothi together right?

Well take this anecdotal account of living in the UK…

Seems Africans and Caribbean didn’t have a lot to agree on either…

Ok Africa stay in your lane…

We don’t want Egyptians they are Arabs aren’t they? I mean they have a light skin and straight hair

Ok all dark Skin Africans stay in your lane…

Now that you mention it, not too keen on Somalians either (I kid you not, most Blacks don’t see Somalians as blacks, almost like they are a race onto themselves. I’ve heard conversation on the train, “that black brother was fighting with these Somalians ???)

Ok fine, Somalians stay out of this…

West Africans vs East Africans vs South Africans (well you guessed the struggles there too)

*West Africa*

It’s Nigerian vs Ghanaian

*Nigeria*

It’s Hausa vs Ibo vs Yoruba

*Yoruba*

It’s Ibadan vs Ijebu vs Ogun

*Ibadan*

It’s Kudeti vs Popo

Then it’s brothers warring over inheritance or family business

Let’s not kid ourselves about a group we belong to.

We just love chaos.

It’s intrinsically woven into our DNA

So before you try to tie a whole tribe into party affiliations, think that there is a big bad world out there and if you succeed in winning the tribal battle, then prepare y ourself for regional war!
