KADUNA POLICE RESCUES TWO VICTIMS OF KIDNAP, RECOVERS OPERATIONAL VEHICLES, OTHER ITEMS

Read Time:2 Minute, 36 Second

The rescue of three (3) kidnapped victims; the seizure of the kidnappers’ weapons and ammunition; as well as the recovery of an operational vehicle and motorcycle by Kaduna State Police Command personnel, all demonstrate how the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc (+), NPM, and fdc directives on rigorous visible patrols and domination of public space by the police have continued to produce the desired results.

These achievements were made in the context of a report that Yusuf Abdullahi Abubakar ‘M’ of Dorayi Village in Kano State had been abducted on September 4, 2022, in Barde Village in the Ikara LGA of Kaduna State, and that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of fifty million naira (N50,000,000.00).

Following receipt of the report, Divisional Police Officer Ikara was instructed by Kaduna State Command Police Commissioner CP Yekini Ayoku psc(+), mni to widen his operational dragnet in order to ensure the victim’s safe rescue and the capture of the perpetrators.

As a result, on September 9, 2022, at around 15:30 hours, police officers assigned to the division stopped a motorcycle carrying three people who were riding suspiciously along the Ikaraā€“Tashan Yari road.

After an intense chase, the Operatives quickly came up with the motorcycle riders, and when they sensed a police pursuit, two of the riders leapt from their bikes and ran into the bushes.

When the operatives searched the motorcycle, they found a hidden AK-47 rifle that was loaded with ten (10) live 7.62 x 39mm rounds. The man who had been saved turned out to be Yusuf Abdullahi Abubakar “m” of Dorayi, whose kidnapping complaint had been received by the Division earlier.
The fleeing offenders are being pursued for arrest while the victim and the exhibits are taken to the police station for additional investigation. The victim’s family has been reunited with him after a medical evaluation.

In a related operation on the same 9th September, 2022 at 0245hrs Operatives of the Command attached to Hunkuyi Division while on aggressive patrol along Zaria – Kano expressway, intercepted a suspicious Ford Mini Bus with Reg No. ZAR 532 XR and the occupants rather than heed the police order to halt for search, engaged the Operatives in a gun duel. The Operatives responded gallantly and in the ensuing melee, the hoodlums fled with varying bullet wounds leaving behind two (2) female occupants of the said vehicle who were rescued. Upon search of the vehicle an AK47 Magazine loaded with thirty (30) rounds of live 7.62 Ɨ 39mm ammunition were recovered.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the two (2) female occupants, identified as Hafiza Haruna and Amina Haruna are the wives of one Alhaji Haruna of Kwanan Dangora, Kano State who were earlier kidnapped by the hoodlums.

The Commissioner of Police commended the Officers for the achievements and tasked them to do more in order to reduce crime and criminalities to the barest minimum in the State. He equally called on the public to be security conscious at all times and to alert security agencies on noticing any suspicious movement and activities around them.
