PRES. TINUBU ARRIVES ABUJA AFTER COP28 SUMMIT
Following his attendance at the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), President Bola Tinubu returned to Abuja on Tuesday.
In addition to attending the conference, the President met one-on-one to finalise agreements with the leaders of various nations and multilateral partners, as well as King Charles of England.
On the fringes of the COP28 climate summit, President Tinubu also hosted a high-level meeting with stakeholders and investors on the Nigerian carbon market and the Electric Buses Rollout Programme. He also witnessed the signing of an accelerated performance agreement between Nigeria and Germany to improve Nigeria’s electricity supply.
Tinubu left Abuja for Dubai on November 29, 2023, in preparation for the summit, which was scheduled to conclude on December 12, 2023.
Even though the government said it only paid for 422 people to attend the summit, the Tinubu-led administration came under fire for having 1,411 Nigerians registered as delegates. Many opponents viewed this number as inflated.
