PSC PROMISES MERIT-BASED POLICE RECRUITMENT

The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, and former Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, has assured Nigerians of merit-based recruitment into the Nigerian Police Force, based on the Federal Character Commission’s requirement of equal representation.
The PSC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Ikechukwu Ani, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, adding that 171,956 successful applicants had begun receiving invitiations for the next stage, which involves a computer-based test.
“The 171,956 successful applicants from the screening stage of the ongoing police recruitment are currently receiving messages inviting them to the next stage of the exercise which is the Computer-Based Tests scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday March 5 and 6, 2024 across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
“The commission has also promised to ensure that the exercise is merit based throughout the stages of the recruitment.
“Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Solomon Arase, CFR, retired Inspector General of Police reiterated the commission’s resolve to ensure that the exercise is merit based and in line with the Federal Character Commission requirements of equal representation”, the statement partly read
The 171,956 successful applicants had been shortlisted, for the CBT exams, scheduled to hold on the 5th and 6th of March, 2024, across the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.
Arase commended the Police Recruitment Board for their steadfastness and commitment to the national assignment, and promised that the commission will forever be grateful to them.
He noted that at the conclusion of the recruitment exercise, the country will have the services of additional manpower in the Police, to assist in the fight against crime and criminality, and recover the ungoverned spaces across the country.
The PSC Chairman also promised that the war against insurgency and terror “would soon be won”, but called for the support of every Nigerian as it should not be left alone for the government.
The statement also urged the successful applicants to check the recruitment portal: apply.policerecruitment.gov, to confirm their status after the screening, and also the date and time of the CBT tests.
“Applicants for the tests are expected to come with their CBT slip to be generated when they visit the recruitment portal where the list of successful candidates have been published with clear information on what they are expected to print.
“Meanwhile the 43,778 applicants who were successful from the specialists cadre during the screening exercise are expected to go through practical tests at a date to be announced soon by the commission”, the statement added.
