BUILDING COLLAPSE IN EGYPT KILLS, INJURES EIGHT

A building collapse in the Egyptian capital on Monday resulted in 10 deaths and eight injuries, with several others feared trapped under the rubble, according to state media.
Ambulances were sent to the scene in the working-class area of Kerdasa, where civil defense teams searched for those believed to be missing beneath the debris, as reported by Al-Akhbar Al-Youm newspaper.
Eyewitnesses told the state-run outlet that a “gas cylinder explosion” caused the collapse, and a police investigation is ongoing.
Building regulations are inconsistently enforced in Cairo, which has a population of over 26 million.
The city has experienced multiple deadly building collapses in recent years, often due to the deteriorating condition of some structures and occasional non-compliance with building codes.
