An Ekiti State Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado Ekiti has ordered the remand of a 31-year-old man, Caleb Ajobor, at the Ado Ekiti Correctional Centre over allegations of assault and threat to life.

The defendant was alleged to have assaulted a woman, Omotayo Olowolagba, and threatened her life during an incident that occurred on June 29, 2025, at Ekute Quarters in Ado Ekiti.

Police Prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court on Wednesday that the defendant physically assaulted the victim by hitting her chest and conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of public peace. He added that the alleged actions contravened sections 185, 46, and 181(d) of the Ekiti State Laws of Nigeria, 2021.

The prosecution urged the court to remand the defendant pending further proceedings.

However, defence counsel, Adunni Olanipekun, appealed to the court to grant her client bail, assuring that he would not jump bail.

Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun declined the bail application and ordered the remand of Ajobor in the correctional facility. The case was adjourned to July 11, 2025, for hearing.
