ARSENAL SIGN CHRISTIAN NORGAARD FROM BRENTFORD IN £12M DEAL TO STRENGTHEN MIDFIELD

Arsenal have completed the signing of Danish midfielder Christian Norgaard from Brentford in a deal worth up to £12 million, the Premier League club confirmed on Thursday.
The 31-year-old joins for an initial fee of £10 million with a further £2 million in performance-related add-ons, according to The Athletic. Norgaard becomes Arsenal’s third signing of the summer transfer window, following the arrivals of Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi and goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Speaking after his unveiling, Norgaard described the move as the fulfilment of a childhood dream.
“You can get almost emotional because maybe it was a dream I had given up on,” said the Danish international. “At 31, having signed a new deal with Brentford, I didn’t think playing in the Champions League would be possible. Now, I get to hear the anthem and be part of a Champions League campaign. It’s something I’ve dreamt of since I was a kid.”
Norgaard made 196 appearances for Brentford, scoring 13 goals and playing a pivotal role in their rise and consolidation in the Premier League over the past four seasons.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta hailed the signing, highlighting Norgaard’s experience, leadership, and tactical intelligence.
“He is an international player with a wealth of Premier League experience. His leadership and strong character will be invaluable to our squad,” Arteta said. “He brings excellent tactical awareness, versatility, and physical presence — qualities that will add depth and balance to our midfield.”
Norgaard’s arrival comes as Arsenal prepare for a return to the Champions League and look to bolster their squad following the exits of Thomas Partey and Jorginho.
Meanwhile, the North London club are also reportedly close to sealing a deal for Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting Lisbon, with negotiations nearing conclusion on a fee believed to be around £70 million.
