The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has announced that a bye-election will be held in any location where a ballot box is snatched during Saturday’s local government elections.

This was disclosed by the LASIEC Chairman, Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (retd.), during a press briefing on Thursday at the Tripple C Event Centre in Sabo, Yaba, Lagos.

Responding to questions from journalists, she stated, “There will be bye-elections if a ballot box is snatched anywhere.”

She added that “While we don’t pray for such to happen,” any disruption involving ballot box theft would necessitate a fresh poll in the affected area.

The Chairperson of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has assured residents of the commission’s preparedness to deliver a free, fair, and transparent local government election.
