The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced a change in the venue for its upcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Thursday, July 24, 2025.

Originally set to hold at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, the NEC meeting will now take place at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa at 2:00 p.m.

APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, confirmed the venue change in a statement issued Wednesday, attributing the move to “logistical reasons.”

“The All Progressives Congress (APC) announces that the meeting of the Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) scheduled to be held on Thursday, 24th July, 2025, will now take place at the Presidential Villa, Abuja,” the statement read.
“The change of venue from the Party’s National Secretariat – 40 Blantyre Street, Wuse II, Abuja, is due to logistical reasons.”

In the lead-up to Thursday’s gathering, APC governors convened a closed-door meeting on Wednesday at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja. The meeting was hosted by Governor Hope Uzodimma, Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum.

Governors present at the meeting included Babagana Zulum (Borno), Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Usman Ododo (Kogi), and Uba Sani (Kaduna).

While the agenda of the NEC meeting remains officially undisclosed, sources suggest that deliberations may focus on selecting a new National Chairman, following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje in June. Ganduje stepped down citing health concerns and a desire to step back from active politics.

The vacancy at the top of the party has raised concerns over organisational coherence and readiness for the forthcoming by-elections in states like Anambra, Ekiti, and Osun.

Acting National Chairman, Ali Bukar Dalori, is expected to steer Thursday’s meeting. Key issues likely to be addressed include ratification of congress schedules, updates on the party’s e-registration across the 36 states, and the reconstitution of key standing committees.
