A fire outbreak on Wednesday ravaged an apartment complex housing students of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), located behind Ace Bar in the Ijagun community of Ogun State.

The building, identified as Amazing Glory Villa, suffered extensive damage as flames engulfed several rooms, destroying students’ personal belongings.

The Students’ Union Public Relations Officer, Oluwashinayomi Ogunfowora, confirmed the incident in a statement after visiting the scene to assess the damage and sympathise with victims.

“Earlier today, a tragic incident occurred at the back of Ace Bar. A lot of properties were damaged due to the fire outbreak.
This sucks bad and it is really outbreaking,” Ogunfowora said.

He added that the union responded promptly upon receiving the report and contacted fire fighters to contain the blaze and prevent further spread.

In videos circulating online, thick smoke and raging flames could be seen consuming parts of the building, with charred remains of students’ possessions strewn about.

Although the exact cause of the fire remains unconfirmed at press time, preliminary suspicions point to an electrical fault.

No casualties were reported.

Ogunfowora used the opportunity to urge students to prioritise safety by turning off electrical appliances before leaving their rooms.

“We appeal to all students to always switch off electrical appliances and avoid any potential fire hazards, especially when leaving their hostels,” he advised.

As investigations continue, the TASUED Students’ Union has pledged support for affected students while calling for increased safety awareness across the campus and its surrounding community.
