YILWATDA VOWS TO MAKE APC A NATIONAL PRIDE, SAYS 2027 IS A ‘DONE DEAL’

Newly elected National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has pledged to reposition the ruling party into a source of national pride, declaring confidently that victory in the 2027 general elections is already assured for the APC.
Yilwatda made the bold declaration on Thursday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja while officially assuming office following his election at the APC National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa.
The former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management succeeds Abdullahi Ganduje, the ex-Kano State governor who stepped down due to health-related reasons.
In his inaugural address, Yilwatda likened the party to a vehicle in need of repairs, with the National Working Committee (NWC) serving as the team of “mechanics” to fix and drive it to its intended destination.
“All of us here, especially the National Working Committee, we are the mechanics, the party is a vehicle, we will fix it. We will drive it, we will work it out and ensure that we get to the destination of our choice,” he said.
Yilwatda appealed for unity among party leaders and members, emphasizing that only collective action can restore the party’s strength and national relevance.
“It’s our collective effort, and I’m sure by the time we put our hands on the deck collectively, this party will be great — the joy, pride, and brightness of the entire nation,” he stated.
Expressing gratitude to Nigerians for their continued support of the APC, Yilwatda said the party’s doors remain open to new members, including opposition figures.
“Our doors are open. We look forward to having more governors, more senators, more National Assembly members, more local government chairmen, and more members. We will expand beyond bounds. By God’s grace, 2027 is a done deal for APC,” he said.
In a related statement, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka said Yilwatda’s wealth of experience in public service and politics would significantly reposition the party.
“A prolific academic and governorship candidate of the APC in the 2023 gubernatorial election in Plateau State, Professor Yilwatda brings a wealth of administrative, technical, and political experience to his new assignment,” the statement read.
Morka noted that Yilwatda had previously served as Director of ICT at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Resident Electoral Commissioner in Benue State (2017–2021), and Director-General of the Plateau State Tinubu-Shettima Campaign in 2023.
“We congratulate our National Chairman on his election and pray God, in His mercies, to grant him wisdom and grace to lead our great party to greater heights,” Morka added.
Yilwatda’s emergence marks the beginning of a new chapter in APC’s leadership as it gears up for the 2027 general elections with renewed optimism and strategic focus.
