The Bauchi State Teachers’ Service Commission has ordered the immediate removal of the Principal of Government Day Secondary School, Kirfi, Musa Ahmed Ningi, and the dismissal of the school’s Senior Master, Malam Adamu Shehu, over allegations of gross misconduct and unauthorized sale of government property.
This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Commission’s Information Officer, Dahiru Adamu, on behalf of the overseeing Permanent Secretary, Garba Muhammad Bashe.
According to the statement, both officials were found guilty by a four-man investigative committee that probed the illegal sale of 32 scrapped student beds, nine jumbo aluminum pots, and an unspecified number of roofing zincs, all belonging to the school.
In addition to their dismissal from administrative roles, the duo were demoted by one grade level and will be reassigned as classroom teachers in different schools.
The Commission further directed that they jointly refund N597,000, the assessed value of the sold items. Additionally, the former principal was mandated to refund N72,000, being unpaid allowances owed to the school’s casual workers.
The Teachers’ Service Commission emphasized that it remains committed to restoring accountability in the education sector and recovering all vandalized or misappropriated items, pledging to work closely with security agencies to bring offenders to justice.
