17-YEAR-OLD BOY DROWNS IN OPEN WATER IN KANO VILLAGE

Tragedy struck in Dandalama village, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, as a 17-year-old boy, Lurwanu Suleiman, drowned in open water on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident was confirmed in a statement released on Wednesday by the Kano State Fire Service through its Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi.
Abdullahi said the emergency call was received at approximately 12:54 p.m. from a resident, Malam Aminu Dandalama, prompting the swift deployment of rescue personnel to the scene by 1:25 p.m.
“Upon arrival, the rescue team recovered the body of the teenage boy from the water, but he was already lifeless,” Abdullahi stated.
The body was subsequently handed over to the Ward Head of Dandalama, Alhaji Safiyan Usman.
The agency noted that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the drowning.
