The 2027 general election appears to be eliciting significant interest among Nigerians, given the enthusiasm demonstrated in participating in the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), which commenced on Monday.
The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC on Monday commenced the nationwide CVR exercise, recording an impressive 26,255 hits on its dedicated portal, cvr.inecnigeria.org, within a few hours of launch.
The online pre-registration initiative, which officially commenced on August 18, 2025, enables qualified Nigerians to initiate their voter registration process digitally prior to finalizing it at specified centers.
INEC announced that physical registration will begin on Monday, August 25, 2025, across all 37 state offices and 774 Local Government Area (LGA) offices throughout the country.
The Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) is accessible to new voters aged 18 and above, while existing voters can utilize the platform to obtain or transfer their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), replace lost or damaged cards, and update their personal information. INEC, however, advised against duplicate registrations.
INEC urged Nigerians to capitalize on this initiative to bolster the nation’s democratic framework, emphasizing that voter registration is a vital step toward ensuring transparent elections.
