The Nigeria Police Force has recorded major breakthroughs in its renewed anti-crime operations, rescuing five kidnapped victims, neutralizing five suspected kidnappers, and recovering a large cache of arms and ammunition in Kebbi and Abia States.

In Kebbi State, operatives backed by other security agencies and vigilantes rescued three kidnapped victims Muhammad Nasamu Namata, 25; Gide Namata, 20; and Hamidu Alhaji Namani, 35 after a fierce gun battle with their abductors in Shanga Hills, Shanga Local Government Area. The trio had been abducted on July 27 in Sangara Village.

In a separate operation in Danko/Wasagu LGA, police on routine patrol engaged armed bandits around Dankade Village in Ribah District on August 15. Two kidnap victims Tukur Bello, 26, and Isyaka Abubakar, 25 were rescued unhurt. The duo had been abducted while grazing cattle in Zamfara State on August 9. They have since been reunited with their families.

Meanwhile, in Abia State, operatives acting on credible intelligence stormed a kidnappers’ den at Umuiku Obete Village in Ukwa West LGA. A gun battle ensued, during which five suspected members of a notorious kidnapping gang were killed. The police recovered 6 AK-47 rifles, 335 rounds of live ammunition, 14 magazines, 5 handsets, 3 cutlasses, 5 operational jackets, an axe, a pair of boots, a charm, and a double-barreled long gun.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended the officers for their commitment and urged them to sustain the tempo. He assured Nigerians of the Force’s determination to maintain law and order while intensifying the fight against criminal groups nationwide.
