POTBELLY MAY NOT BE RECRUITED INTO FIRE SERVICE – FFS WARNS

BY OWOLABI OLUWDARA
The Federal Fire Service of Nigeria has urged potential firefighter candidates awaiting the publication of the recruitment shortlist to be prepared both physically and mentally.
The announcement, made Tuesday on X, comes as the nation looks forward to the subsequent stage of the highly competitive recruitment process.
The Service advised applicants to maintain a nutritious diet, prioritize their health, ensure adequate rest, engage in physical activity, and remain composed while awaiting the shortlist.
“Hunger is not a component of the training curriculum,” the announcement jested, adding, “We require fit firefighters, not fainting champions. Your potbelly will not fit inside bunker gear. ”
The Service emphasized the strenuous nature of firefighting, stating, “The fire does not wait for the unfit so prepare diligently! ”
The Fire Service has yet to specify a date for the shortlist release, but its proactive health initiative is perceived as a strategic measure to ensure candidates are equipped for the intense physical requirements of the evaluation process.
