The Lagos State Police Command has intensified security operations across Lekki, Ajah, Ogombo, and Elemoro following renewed cult-related violence in the area.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police said new sustainable crime prevention, detection, and control strategies have been rolled out, including the redeployment of Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and the deployment of the Eko Strike Force to the Lekki-Ajah axis.

The Command said the move was aimed at improving operational efficiency, enhancing proactive response to distress calls, and safeguarding both lives and property in the area.

The development comes after an inter-cult clash on Sunday in Lekki Phase 1 claimed the lives of three suspected cultists. The violence broke out around 5 a.m. at a security duty post on Wole Olateju Street, prompting immediate intervention by Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, who mobilized joint tactical teams to the scene.

The police confirmed that several suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident following raids on criminal hideouts across Lekki. Those arrested include Frank Okpara (27), Friday Ebuka (27), Babatunde Mufutau (24), Suleiman Muri (25), Olamide Malik (24), and 18 others.

Items recovered from the suspects include one AK-47 rifle, a magazine with 14 rounds of live ammunition, a military camouflage cap, two cutlasses, wraps of Indian hemp, charms, and three cannabis crushers.

“The security situation in Lekki-Ajah is under control, and normalcy has been restored,” Hundeyin stated, assuring residents that crime in the area was not alarming.

He added that investigations were ongoing to track down other fleeing cult members, with all arrested suspects to be prosecuted in line with the law.

The Command urged residents to remain calm, go about their lawful businesses, and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
