ONDO POLICE NAB SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBER, RECOVER LOCALLY MADE GUN

Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a suspected armed robber believed to have been operating around the Abusoro area of Akure South Local Government Area.

The suspect, identified as Idowu Babayemi, was apprehended during a routine patrol by police officers in the Onimalu axis of the state.

According to the command’s spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, officers searched the suspect after sighting him and recovered a locally made pistol from his possession.

Jimoh explained that the arrest followed weeks of surveillance based on credible intelligence gathered by the command, adding that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

He said the operation reflects the command’s proactive and intelligence-led policing efforts aimed at tackling armed robbery, illegal possession of firearms, and other criminal activities across the state.

The Commissioner of Police also praised the officers involved for their vigilance, professionalism, and commitment to duty.
