He stated, “Our revenue objective for the period between September and December is ₦1.5 billion, and we have developed strategies to ensure its achievement. Additionally, we are targeting ₦3 billion in 2026 and ₦5 billion in 2027. ”
The Director-General emphasized that the agency’s establishment not only focuses on revenue generation but also on regulating outdoor advertising and aligning with international best practices.
He noted that the agency, created by the government to oversee outdoor advertising, will soon begin operations as all necessary arrangements have been finalized.
“Although KASA is a newly established agency initiated by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in April 2025 to regulate outdoor advertising, we intend to employ both enforcement and revenue collection measures,” he stated.
Dakata explained that part of the enforcement will involve ensuring that the state’s outdoor advertising signage complies with the agency’s rules and regulations.
“Regarding enforcement, any breaches of our guidelines will incur penalties of one month’s imprisonment, three months of community service, or the imposition of fines,” he added.
Dakata mentioned that the agency is already engaging with other outdoor advertising organizations to collaborate effectively, aiming to prevent duplication of efforts and ensuring compliance with legal standards.
The Director-General elaborated that the agency has initiated the registration of business operators utilizing signage advertisement posts.
“The agency’s mandate encompasses billboards, branded vehicles, roadshows, tricycles, delivery riders, and advertisements displayed on shops or private properties.
“KASA will regulate the quantity, dimensions, and placement of structures, as well as remove abandoned billboards that pose safety hazards.
“We will also address the inappropriate use of offensive language and phrases that could be insensitive to the community in advertisements. ”
KASA was established in early 2025 under Yusuf’s administration to oversee outdoor advertising in the state.
The agency’s responsibilities include the regulation of billboards, branded vehicles, posters, and other forms of outdoor promotions, with the goal of eliminating excessive taxation and unregulated displays.
KASA has set an ambitious target to achieve ₦1.5 billion in revenue by the close of 2025, followed by objectives of ₦3 billion in 2026 and ₦5 billion in 2027, utilizing a combination of enforcement and revenue collection strategies.
