NSCDC TRAINS 174 OFFICERS TO COMBAT CYBER ATTACKS AND DRONE-ENABLED CRIMES

The federal capital territory FCT command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps NSCDC has developed 174 personnel in tactical efficiency through the use of sophisticated security tools
personnel were trained in specific areas which includes the use of modern radio communication, map reading and navigation, the use of drones, with a charge to tackle cyber intrusion and drone enabled crimes
Addressing the graduation ceremony held in Abuja on Monday, the FCT Commandant of the NSCDC, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, stated that the training, conducted in partnership with the Nigerian Army Headquarters Garrison, Abuja, aimed at equipping operatives with contemporary knowledge and skills to tackle emerging security threats, including insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, vandalism of public infrastructure, cyber intrusions, and drone-enabled offenses.
He noted that the initiative was part of a strategic effort to enhance the operational capabilities of the Corps in protecting vital national assets and infrastructure.
“The challenges we encounter today are more intricate and advanced than ever before, necessitating not only bravery and dedication but also the proficient utilization of contemporary tools, knowledge, and techniques,” Odumosu remarked.

He commended the Nigerian Army for its support and partnership in facilitating the program, describing the collaboration as “a remarkable demonstration of inter-agency synergy and cooperation, essential in the unified pursuit of national security goals. ”
Odumosu indicated that in recent years, the FCT Command has observed a significant increase in capacity-building programs and assured that the training would serve as a catalyst for substantial declines in reported incidents of vandalism, theft of public infrastructure, and an increase in the apprehension of vandals and other criminal elements within the territory.
He praised the 174 graduating participants for their commitment and perseverance, encouraging them to utilize their newly acquired skills in combating vandalism and various forms of criminal activity throughout the FCT.
“You are now stewards of specialized knowledge, and it is anticipated that you will employ it with professionalism, discipline, and a strong sense of responsibility,” he urged.
The Commandant further conveyed gratitude to the Commandant-General of the Corps, Prof. Ahmed Audi, for his backing and endorsement of the Command’s training programs, assuring that the FCT Command would remain committed to capacity enhancement initiatives.
He emphasized that the training would act as a catalyst for diminishing incidents of vandalism and theft of public infrastructure, while enhancing the apprehension of vandals and other criminal elements in Abuja and its surrounding areas.
The Commander of the Nigeria Army Headquarters Garrison, Maj. Gen. Wilson Dangana, represented by the Garrison Training Officer, Brig. Gen. NN Orok, noted that knowledge acquired but not utilized would be forfeited.
He encouraged the personnel to consistently apply the knowledge gained from the training.
