POLICE RECOVER N300,000 EXTORTED FROM FURNITURE MAKER IN EDO STATE

The police authority in Edo has announced the recovery of N300,000 that was reportedly extorted from a furniture manufacturer by officers associated with the Oba Market Area Command in Benin.
CSP Moses Yamu, the command’s Public Relations Officer, revealed this information in Benin today.
Yamu indicated that disciplinary measures would be implemented against the officers involved.

As per his statement, this incident followed a widely circulated video uploaded by a social media influencer accusing the officers of extortion.
He confirmed that the funds had been returned to the victim and that the implicated officers had been detained.
“The officers involved have been promptly identified, the money has been fully recovered and returned to the victim, while the said officers have been detained and are to face disciplinary procedures in accordance with the extant regulations of the Nigeria Police Force,” Yamu stated.
The police spokesperson further mentioned that stringent administrative actions had also been instituted against the Oba Market Area Command to reinforce professionalism and respect for citizens’ rights.
He urged the public to report any misconduct to the Public Complaints Bureau or the national Complaints Response Unit via dedicated hotlines (08150999335 and 08100389992).
“The Command under CP Monday Agbonika, encourages members of the public to report any unprofessional conduct by officers and men of the Command,” he added.
Yamu reassured Edo residents that the Command remains dedicated to “upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability in service delivery. ”
