LAGOS GOVT UNVEILS “101 DAYS IN LAGOS” CALENDAR, CALLS FOR STRICT ADHERENCE TO GUIDELINES

… As Special Adviser Reassures Stakeholders of Tourism Support Services
The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture has rolled out its “101 Days in Lagos” calendar, a comprehensive schedule that consolidates the state’s most significant cultural, entertainment, and tourism initiatives.
The programme, which runs from September 26, 2025, through the globally acclaimed “Detty December” season and into January 2026, is designed to strengthen Lagos’ position as Africa’s cultural and tourism capital.
The calendar provides a structured and sustainable framework that will support the growth of the state’s creative economy while offering opportunities for event organisers, creatives, and hospitality stakeholders.
Speaking at the unveiling, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe described the calendar as a strategic tool for transforming Lagos into a globally recognised hub for creativity, culture, and commerce.
“Tourism is our gold; it mirrors the growth and prospects of a city. Lagos is determined to harness this potential fully. The ‘101 in Lagos’ manual, which will be widely circulated across digital and physical platforms, serves as the definitive guide to the season’s flagship activities, including the E1 Lagos Water Sports Festival, Lagos Cultural Weekend, Flytime Fest, Culturati, and One Lagos Fiesta,” Aregbe said.
He assured stakeholders that the government has created a safe, regulated, and conducive environment for cultural exchange, innovation, and entertainment throughout the festive period.
He, however, stressed the need for strict compliance with event and tourism regulations, warning that violations could undermine the integrity of the entire season.
“This calendar is practical, tangible, and action-driven. Beyond showcasing all major events, it provides collaboration opportunities and clear guidance for organisers, stakeholders, and the public. Our Tourism Support Services will work hand-in-hand with industry players to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient execution. We must all play by the rules,” he added.
He called on regulatory agencies, private sector partners, and the creative community to work collectively in making this festive season not only safe but also vibrant and memorable.
Reaffirming the administration’s commitment, Aregbe averred that:
“This government is unwavering in its mission to position Lagos as a global hub for culture and tourism. Our city will continue to lead, inspire, and thrive – as the home of creativity, culture, and commerce in Africa.”
The ‘101 Days in Lagos’ calendar highlights a mix of local and international events such as Felabration, E1 Racing, Detty December, Tacha 150 Hours Makeover (GWR Attempt), Children’s Book Festival, Foodaholics Trade Fair, Lagos Meets London Cultural Night, Naija Food Fiesta, Club in the Park, and Aso Oke Revival, among many others.
