FC Barcelona has unequivocally refuted any intentions to part ways with goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen during the forthcoming January transfer window, underscoring that the German international remains an integral component of the club’s present and future.

Marc-André ter Stegen has been a pivotal presence at FC Barcelona for nearly ten years, consistently fulfilling the role of the club’s primary goalkeeper and serving as a significant leader within the locker room.

With Marc-André ter Stegen currently unavailable and speculation surrounding his future, the acquisition of Joan Garcia sparked interest, particularly as he joined from city rivals Espanyol.

According to Fabrizio Romano’s post on X on Tuesday, Barcelona’s Director Deco stated: “There’s no January plan around Ter Stegen exit. If he was fit, he’d probably be playing — he’s our captain” Deco conveyed to Mundo Deportivo.

“Joan García was about the present and the future. Signing him wasn’t ‘against’ Ter Stegen; it was smart planning.”

Ter Stegen has been among the most reliable performers for FC Barcelona over the last decade. Renowned for his reflexes, poise with the ball at his feet, and leadership attributes, he quickly positioned himself as an essential player in Barcelona’s post-Valdés era.
