The Minister of Youth and Development, Ayodele Olawande, on Tuesday, paid a brief but memorable visit to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp in Umuawulu/Mbaukwu, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, where he interacted with corps members of the 2025 Batch B Stream II.

Olawande, who was received by the NYSC Anambra State Coordinator, Mrs. Pauline Ojisua, said his official visit to the state for project inspection would not have been complete without meeting the corps members, whom he described as “the pride and strength of the nation.”

Despite a light downpour, the minister was accorded full camp honours at the Quarter Guard and welcomed with the rendition of the Nigerian, NYSC, and Anambra State anthems.

In his address, Olawande commended the corps members for their discipline, patriotism, and contributions to national development through the NYSC scheme.

“We commend you for your discipline, patriotism, and dedication to national development through the NYSC scheme. Continue to be exemplary ambassadors of unity and service wherever you are posted,” he said.

Accompanied by the Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, Patrick Agha Mba, the minister expressed gratitude to the camp officials and corps members for their warm reception.

As a gesture of goodwill, Olawande donated a cow to the corps members in support of their upcoming camp carnival scheduled for Saturday.

The visit ended on a cheerful note, with the corps members giving three hearty cheers in appreciation of the minister’s visit and generosity, as a Guard of Honour saluted him at the Quarter Guard.
