POLICE ARREST 26 SUSPECTS IN LAGOS FOR COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY, ADULTERATED DIESEL PRODUCTION

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 26 male suspects for alleged involvement in fraudulent activities, including the possession of counterfeit currency and the production and sale of adulterated diesel to unsuspecting motorists.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the suspects were apprehended on 27 November 2025 at about 1:30 pm in Eti-Osa, Lekki, during a joint operation with operatives of Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI). Recovered from the premises was counterfeit cash amounting to ₦951,300.
Preliminary investigations revealed that four suspects Abubakar Rilean (40), Abubakar Abdullahi (35), Adamu Ibrahim Jora (35), and Michael John (30) were allegedly involved in the production and distribution of adulterated diesel and engine oil, commonly referred to as “rice and beans.” The products were reportedly sold to unsuspecting motorists in the area.
Additionally, Ichapi Moses (30) and Samson Adike (28) were identified as suppliers of the adulterated petroleum products.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, issued a stern warning to individuals engaging in criminal activities, stressing that the Command is intensifying operations and closing in on perpetrators. He cautioned that anyone found compromising public safety or engaging in acts detrimental to economic stability will face the full force of the law.
CP Jimoh assured Lagos residents that the Command remains fully in control of the security situation across the state, emphasising that Lagos is safe and that there is “no room for criminals or their unlawful activities.”
He urged members of the public to provide timely and credible information to assist in crime prevention.
The Command confirmed that daily operations including raids on criminal hideouts, show-of-force exercises, and convoy patrols are ongoing across all Area Commands and Divisions.
