SALAH RETURNS TO LIVERPOOL SQUAD AFTER TALKS WITH SLOT AHEAD OF BRIGHTON CLASH

Mohamed Salah has been named in Liverpool’s squad for Saturday’s Premier League fixture against Brighton at Anfield following discussions with manager Arne Slot, British media reported on Friday.
The BBC and Sky Sports said the decision came after talks between the Egypt international and Slot, who had insisted he would make the final call in the best interests of the club. The Dutch coach had earlier confirmed he would hold discussions with Salah after the forward’s public outburst last weekend raised questions about his future at Anfield.
Salah had been left out of the squad for Liverpool’s midweek Champions League trip to Italy, where the Reds secured a 1-0 win over Inter Milan. His omission followed comments after last week’s 3-3 draw with Leeds, during which he criticised the club for “throwing him under the bus” and admitted he had no relationship with the new manager. The Leeds match was the third consecutive game in which the 33-year-old did not start.
Ahead of the Brighton game, Slot told reporters that the outcome of his conversation with Salah would determine the winger’s involvement. While declining to go into details, he added that he had no reason to want the player to leave the club.
Salah, who signed a new two-year contract in April that made him one of the Premier League’s highest earners, is expected to join Egypt’s squad for the Africa Cup of Nations after the Brighton fixture. His availability for Liverpool will depend on how far Egypt progress in the tournament, which concludes on January 18 in Morocco.
The former Roma forward remains one of Liverpool’s greatest players, sitting third on the club’s all-time scoring list with 250 goals in 420 appearances. He has won two Premier League titles and a Champions League during his time at Anfield, scoring 29 league goals last season as Liverpool clinched a record-equalling 20th English title.
However, Salah has struggled for form this season, managing just four Premier League goals in 13 appearances, as Liverpool endure a difficult campaign. The Reds are currently 10th in the table, with only two wins in their last 10 league matches.
Speculation over Salah’s future has intensified amid links to the Saudi Pro League, but his inclusion against Brighton suggests a temporary easing of tensions as Liverpool look to revive their season.
