The Enugu State Police Command has arrested six suspected members of a secret cult group for allegedly forcefully initiating victims into the Supreme Vikings Confraternity in Enugu State.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, saying the suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad following credible intelligence.

According to Ndukwe, the suspects were arrested in connection with a forced initiation carried out on November 25, 2025, at a forest location around Ugwu Peak, Iva Valley, in Enugu North Local Government Area.

Items recovered from the suspects include one locally made double-barrelled pistol, four cutlasses, and two empty bottles of Squadron rum allegedly used during the initiation exercise.

The arrested suspects were identified as Edeh Francis Chigbo (22), also known as “Saint”; Ogbu Fabulous (23), popularly called “Nwakanwa”; Odom Chiemerie (28), alias “Coded”; Nweke Anayo (22), known as “Chaplet”; Obumneme Obiechina (30), also called “Biggy”; and Chigozie Ugbene (20), nicknamed “God Bless.”

Police said the suspects confessed to being members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity and admitted their involvement in the alleged criminal activities. They are expected to be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Cultism has remained a major security concern in Enugu and other parts of the South-East, with secret cult groups often linked to violent initiation rites, inter-group clashes, and other criminal acts.

The Enugu State Police Command reiterated its commitment to combating cult-related crimes and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to assist security agencies in curbing the menace.
