SPEAKER ABBAS DISTRIBUTES FIVE TRAILERS OF RICE TO CHURCHES IN KADUNA NORTH AHEAD OF CHRISTMAS

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has distributed five trailers of rice to more than 1,000 churches across the Kaduna North Senatorial District to support Christian communities ahead of the Christmas celebrations.
The distribution, which took place between Sunday, December 21, and Monday, December 22, was conducted at the Speaker’s Constituency Office in the Dan-Magaji area of Zaria.
Kaduna North Senatorial District, also known as Zone 1, comprises Zaria, Sabon Gari, Makarfi, Kudan, Ikara, Kubau, Soba and Lere Local Government Areas, with beneficiary churches drawn from all eight councils.
According to organisers, a total of 3,165 bags of 50kg rice were distributed through the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in each of the local government areas to ensure equitable allocation.
Speaking during the exercise, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Speaker on Administration, Malam Iliyasu Muhammad Balarabe, said the gesture was aimed at supporting Christians in the senatorial district as they prepare to celebrate Christmas.
He noted that the beneficiaries were carefully selected and described the distribution as part of the Speaker’s ongoing commitment to providing relief and support to residents of the district, particularly during festive periods.
The initiative was well received by church leaders, who expressed appreciation for the support and commended the Speaker for promoting inclusiveness and goodwill during the Christmas season.
