The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched an electronic membership registration exercise across all wards in the state.
The party announced that the digital registration, which began on Monday, will run until the end of January and is open to both existing members and new entrants, with the aim of creating a comprehensive digital membership database.
In a statement, the party’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, said the initiative is intended to strengthen internal democracy, improve the accuracy of party records, and prepare the APC for future electoral activities.
According to Oladejo, the adoption of electronic registration will eliminate duplication and impersonation, ensuring that all members are properly documented and verifiable.
He explained that the process guarantees equal recognition for both long-standing and new members, helping to curb gatekeeping and promote transparency within the party’s structures.
Oladejo stressed that a credible and reliable membership register is critical for conducting transparent congresses, primaries, and leadership selection processes.
He added that the use of technology will boost participation among youths, professionals, and first-time political actors, while also enhancing grassroots coordination and electoral preparedness.
The APC spokesman called on members across Lagos State to actively participate in the exercise, describing it as a shared responsibility crucial to the party’s growth and democratic ideals.
