Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has voiced confidence that both divine guidance and popular support will ensure his re-election later this year.
The governor made the remarks on Monday during a New Year interfaith prayer session at the State Secretariat, which was attended by labour leaders, religious figures, and public servants.
He noted that his administration has successfully navigated numerous challenges over the past three years and expressed optimism that it will overcome any obstacles ahead of the upcoming election.
According to Adeleke, his government’s journey since assuming office has been sustained by faith and resilience.
“Our God has remained our sustainer, defender, and protector. From the very beginning, He has fought our battles for us. Those who rise against us are confronted by a higher power,” he said.
He described his administration as a testament to what he called “divine grace,” highlighting that his government has prevailed over challenges that once seemed insurmountable.
“We are living proof that God governs the affairs of men. Time and again, we have overcome challenges and emerged victorious. As God remains the same yesterday, today, and forever, we shall continue to prevail and remain undefeated,” the governor added.
Adeleke also highlighted his administration’s achievements, emphasizing that he has implemented people-centered policies since taking office and delivered tangible results across key sectors of the state’s economy.
“From my first day in office, we prioritised programmes that directly impact the lives of our people. Three years on, we have kept faith with Osun residents and honoured our promises,” he stated.
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has highlighted key achievements of his administration, including interventions for senior citizens, support for the poor and vulnerable, rehabilitation of roads and bridges, empowerment of artisans, and initiatives to address challenges in education and healthcare.
He also noted that his government has been gradually resolving inherited salary and pension arrears, despite skepticism from political opponents.
“Under very difficult circumstances, we are addressing half-salary payments and pension backlogs that some claimed were impossible to resolve. We have ensured that Osun’s resources benefit the people and created a more enabling environment for investors,” Adeleke stated.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Osun State, Comrade Christopher Arapasopo, reaffirmed labour’s support for the governor’s re-election, declaring that workers would vote en masse for Adeleke in the August 8, 2026, governorship election.
Religious leaders at the event also offered prayers and goodwill messages. The Chief Imam of Osogbo, Sheikh Musa Animasaun, and the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state, Dr. John Adeleke, commended the governor’s consistent public expression of faith and prayed for divine guidance to address the state’s challenges and support his re-election bid.
