Renowned gospel singers Nathaniel Bassey and Frank Edwards, alongside the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Wale Oke, have paid glowing tributes following the death of celebrated worship leader, Dr. Ron Kenoly.

Kenoly’s longtime music director, Bruno Miranda, confirmed the passing in a statement shared on the worship icon’s official Instagram page on Tuesday. Although the cause of death was not disclosed, the statement revealed that Kenoly died on February 3, 2026.

“This morning, Feb. 3, 2026, we said goodbye to Dr. Ron Kenoly,” the statement read.

Reacting to the news, Nathaniel Bassey described Kenoly as a foundational inspiration whose music shaped generations of worship leaders across the globe.

“Dr. RON KENOLY crosses to the yonder side. Thank you for inspiring generations of psalmists like me. I grew up on these songs, and today others are growing up on ours. Thank you, Sir,” Bassey wrote on Instagram.

In a heartfelt tribute titled “Farewell to a True Worshipper Ron Kenoly,” Bishop Wale Oke commiserated with the late singer’s family and prayed for divine comfort.

“We commiserate with his beloved family, his wife, children, and grandchildren, and pray that the Holy Spirit will comfort, strengthen, and abide with them at this critical time,” the PFN president said.

Gospel singer Frank Edwards also took to social media to honour the worship legend, highlighting his far-reaching influence on gospel music worldwide.

“Life well lived, Heaven’s gain. Thank you for the music, thank you for the impact! Rest well, Dr. Ron Kenoly,” Edwards wrote.

Dr. Ron Kenoly was widely celebrated for his powerful worship songs and global ministry, leaving behind a lasting legacy that continues to influence contemporary gospel music and worship across generations.
