ADELEKE VOWS TO DELIVER KEY ROAD PROJECT IN OSUN COMMUNITY

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has pledged to dualise the road linking Ikire Junction to Apomu and Ikoyi in Isokan Local Government Area.
The governor made the promise while speaking at the Apomu Day celebrations held at ADC Grammar School, Apomu.
Adeleke said the proposed road project would enhance economic activities and improve connectivity in the area.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive development across Osun State, stressing that rural and semi-urban communities remain a key focus of his government’s development agenda.
Governor Ademola Adeleke reiterated his commitment to inclusive development in Osun State, assuring residents of plans to dualise the road linking Ikire Junction to Apomu and Ikoyi.
Also speaking at the event, the Deputy Minority Leader representing Osun West Senatorial District in the Senate, Lere Oyewumi, described governance as a vehicle for development and pledged his support for the continued growth of Apomu within the district.
In his remarks, the President-General of the Apomu Descendants Union, National and Diaspora, Dr Jide Babalola, said the 2025 Apomu Day celebration was more than a ceremonial gathering, describing it as a platform for reflection and progress.
He said the initiative was deliberately designed to promote development, sustainability, and a sense of collective ownership among community members.

According to him, the event also provided an opportunity to unveil a ₦250 million Community Endowment Fund aimed at supporting key projects, including the completion of the ultra-modern palace, youth empowerment programmes, and critical community infrastructure.
He announced that 131 elite members of the Apomu Descendants Union (ADU) jointly donated ₦25 million in support of the initiative.
A member of the House of Representatives representing Ayedaade, Irewole and Isokan Federal Constituency, and an indigene of Apomu, Lanre Oladebo, also pledged a donation of ₦25 million.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Isokan Local Government Area, Goke Odetunde, said the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Apomu would continue to support the town’s growth and development.
The Alapomu of Apomu, Oba Kayode Afolabi, described the occasion as a double celebration, noting that it coincided with his sixth coronation anniversary.
The monarch commended the sons and daughters of Apomu for their commitment, support, and cooperation toward the development of the town since his ascension to the throne.
He said collective effort and self-help initiatives had contributed significantly to the development of Apomu, but stressed that more work remained to be done.
Expressing optimism, he said continued support and dedication from stakeholders would further accelerate development in the community.
The event was marked by colourful cultural performances and a musical display by Fuji artiste Saheed Osupa.
