THREE ARRAIGNED, REMANDED FOR ASSAULTING OYO FIRE SERVICE OFFICIALS

Three suspects were on Tuesday arraigned before the Ejioku Magistrate Court in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State for allegedly assaulting officials of the Oyo State Fire Service while on duty.
The defendants were subsequently remanded at the Agodi Correctional Centre pending further proceedings.
The incident reportedly occurred at Atari-Agbon in the Oki area of Olodo, Lagelu Local Government Area, where fire service personnel were responding to a fire outbreak. According to reports, the officers were attacked by hoodlums allegedly looting valuables at the scene.
Confirming the development, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, said an officer sustained injuries during the assault and was rushed to hospital for treatment.
Providing an update on Tuesday, Akinwande disclosed that three individuals had been arraigned on charges of assault, conspiracy and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.
“Three people were arraigned at Ejioku Magistrate’s Court at the early hours of today (Tuesday) for assault of fire officers at Oki. They were also charged for conspiracy and conduct likely to breach public peace.
“Three were arraigned while others are at large. They are currently remanded at Agodi prison. The case is adjourned till March 12, 2026,” he said.
Authorities said efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects who remain at large.
