The Kano State Censorship Board has ordered the immediate closure of all entertainment venues across the state, including event centres (gala houses) and Disc Jockeys (DJs).
The board’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, announced the directive in a statement on Tuesday.
“Effective from Wednesday, 18 February 2026, all such venues will remain closed for the duration of the holy month of Ramadan.
“The order takes effect from 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday,” the statement added.
The board stated that the measure was implemented to enable residents to observe the Ramadan fast and engage in their religious activities in a calm and undisturbed environment.
“The closure will remain in effect for the entire fasting period, with the reopening date, especially for the Eid celebrations, to be announced in due course,” the statement added.
The board urged all stakeholders to fully cooperate and comply with the directive in line with the law governing the agency.
The board stated that the directive is part of its mandate to enforce compliance with regulations governing entertainment activities in the state.
It also wished residents a peaceful and healthy observance of the holy month, praying for God’s mercy and blessings so that everyone may experience Ramadan in prosperity.
