Two suspected kidnappers accused of terrorizing several parts of Ondo State have been arrested by the State Police Command.

The suspects, identified as Abubakar Sindiku, 25, and Oliver Okoh, 35, were apprehended in Sabo Sango, Ado Road, and Ilado Community in Akure North Local Government Area.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, the arrests were made by the command’s anti-kidnapping unit following credible tracking analysis and technical intelligence.

Jimoh added that the suspects are currently assisting police with useful information and were apprehended in connection with an ongoing kidnapping investigation within the state.

Motorcycles used by the suspects to provide logistical support for their operations were also recovered. Jimoh assured that remaining members of the syndicate who are still at large will be apprehended.

He said, “The Ondo State Police Command has achieved a significant operational breakthrough in its sustained efforts to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state. This underscores the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, guided by a proactive, intelligence-driven approach to crime prevention and enforcement.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are members of a kidnapping syndicate. They reportedly used motorcycles for reconnaissance, gathering information about potential targets, and providing logistical support, including supplying food and other operational resources to other members of the group.”
