Around 100 residents of communities in Ife North Local Government Area, Osun State, benefitted from a free medical outreach and food distribution on Friday.
The event was organised by friends of Mr. Akinyode Oyewusi, Deputy Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, to mark his birthday. Beneficiaries received free medical consultations, malaria and Hepatitis B screenings, medications, eye tests, and free glasses.
Speaking at Ipetumodu Town Hall, where the outreach was held, Oyewusi, represented by his wife, Mrs. Adeola Oyewusi, urged continued support for the beneficiaries in addressing their various needs. She noted that the initiative targeted vulnerable and elderly residents within the local government.
“Today, 100 people will benefit from free medical care and food distribution in our communities. Our people will be screened for Hepatitis B, malaria, and undergo eye tests, with free glasses provided. This initiative is part of the Deputy Speaker’s birthday celebrations,” Mrs. Oyewusi said.
She further encouraged residents to support Governor Ademola Adeleke in the upcoming August 15, 2026 election, stressing that collective participation is key to the development and progress of their communities.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Olakunle Fajinmi expressed gratitude to the organisers, particularly for the provision of glasses and food items, noting the significance of the healthcare services provided.
This initiative follows previous support from Oyewusi to his constituents in Ife North State Constituency, including donations of food items, cash, and electronics during the 2025 festive season. The Deputy Speaker had previously distributed about 120 chickens, 130 bags of rice, and N5 million in cash, alongside other empowerment items such as 30 Bajaj motorcycles, 20 deep freezers, 20 3.5KVA generators, 32-inch TVs, washing machines, sewing machines, grinding machines, and inverter fans.
Oyewusi reaffirmed his commitment to prioritising the welfare of vulnerable residents in the constituency.
