TEENAGER ARRAIGNED IN LAGOS OVER ALLEGED THREAT TO KILL RIVAL

A 16-year-old girl was on Monday, February 23, 2026, arraigned before a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Badagry, Lagos State, over an alleged threat to kill a 15-year-old girl she accused of “snatching” her boyfriend.
The defendant, whose name and address were withheld due to her age, is facing charges of threat to kill and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace. She pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Friday Mameh, told the court that the incident occurred on February 20 at about 9 p.m. at Khalakuta Jegba Quarters, Badagry.
He alleged that the defendant used a razor blade to cut the face of the complainant in a bid to force her to end the relationship.
According to the prosecutor, the defendant’s actions caused panic in the area and created pandemonium in the neighbourhood.
He added that the complainant sustained injuries and that the defendant was subsequently arrested and handed over to the police.
The prosecution said the offences contravened Sections 230 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
In his ruling, Chief Magistrate A. J. Aina granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum. He directed that one of the sureties must be a civil servant not below Grade Level 12.
The case was adjourned until March 30 for mention.
