Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have apprehended two suspected arms couriers, confiscating two Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) warheads, an RPG launcher, and other items linked to bandit networks in Gombe State.

The suspects, Muhammed Alhaji Mohammed, 55, and Sani Gesha, 47, were intercepted at Mararaban Tula in Kaltungo Local Government Area while traveling in a grey Toyota Corolla with registration number Taraba JAL475YQ.

Security sources revealed that the operation resulted from covert surveillance of a bandit cell led by a notorious arms trafficker operating across Bauchi, Gombe, Taraba, and Adamawa States.

“The operatives monitored the syndicate for over three weeks before executing the operation. The arrest was professionally carried out, resulting in the seizure of a substantial cache of arms and ammunition,” a source said.

During questioning, the suspects reportedly admitted that the consignment was intended for one Ardo Hamma Ari, a resident of Kukawa Village in Alkaleri LGA, Bauchi State.

In a related operation, DSS agents rescued a six-year-old boy, Mohammed Jabir, from Gyada Village, Talase in Balanga LGA.

“The child was kidnapped by Salisu Hussain, who lured him under the pretext of teaching him to ride a motorcycle. Following the report, DSS responded swiftly, rescuing the boy and arresting the kidnapper,” the source confirmed.

Mohammed was safely reunited with his parents, who expressed gratitude to the DSS for their son’s return.

“The suspects remain in DSS custody and will be arraigned in court shortly,” the source added.
