Ahead of the June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced plans to move away from traditional jamboree-style campaigns, opting instead for a more intensive grassroots drive.

APC State Chairman Sola Elesin stated that the party would soon inaugurate campaign councils in local governments across the state to kickstart the new campaign strategy.

According to a statement by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Segun Dipe, titled ‘What Ekiti APC EXCO saw during statewide tour’, Elesin made the remarks while reporting on a recent statewide engagement tour by members of the APC State Executive Council.

He explained that the party’s campaign “will focus on intra-unit, intra-ward, and intra-local government engagements, moving away from the usual jamboree-style rallies,” adding that APC aims to secure at least 95 per cent of total votes across the state.

“We are extending an olive branch to party members who are still undecided, inviting them to take this opportunity to join the winning team. As the party campaigns across the state, there is still time to get involved and contribute to a sure-win outcome,” Elesin said.

He added, “The writing is on the wall: Ekiti APC is prepared for a historic victory, and Governor Oyebanji is set for a landslide re-election.”

The party chairman emphasized the importance of enhanced awareness campaigns and active membership canvassing to sustain and strengthen the party’s current momentum.

Elesin stated, “We must continue to educate the public on Governor Oyebanji’s achievements and the party’s vision. It is also essential to recruit more members to join our movement and help drive the party’s success.”

Commenting on the findings from the statewide tour, APC State Secretary Garba Arogundade said, “The message from the grassroots is unmistakable – Governor Oyebanji remains the right leader for Ekiti, and the party is determined to deliver a landslide victory on June 20.

“What we observed was a groundswell of support for the Oyebanji administration, with many expressing gratitude for his efforts in fostering development and progress across the state.

“Everywhere we went, we were met with enthusiasm and appreciation. The people of Ekiti State are satisfied with Oyebanji’s governance and are eager to reward him with a second term.”

The party also urged members to obtain their National Identification Numbers for e-registration and reminded those yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards to do so to safeguard their voting rights.
