POLICE NAB ALLEGED KIDNAPPER, SEIZE AK-47 IN NASARAWA

The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle during an operation in Keana Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The arrest followed a raid on a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Gidan Akuya village.
In a statement issued to journalists in Lafia on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, said the operation was carried out by operatives of the State Intelligence Department acting on credible intelligence.

He explained that upon sighting the operatives, the suspects attempted to flee the scene but were immediately pursued by the police.
“During the operation, one suspect, identified as Jibril Yunusa, 43, was apprehended. A search conducted at the hideout led to the recovery of several items, including an AK-47 rifle, an empty magazine and a locally fabricated rifle.”
According to Ramhan Nansel, the suspect confessed during interrogation to involvement in several kidnapping operations within the Keana and Awe axis.
He added that the suspect has provided useful information to aid ongoing investigations.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, said the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed, has directed operatives to intensify efforts to track down and arrest other members of the gang who escaped during the operation.
He added that the Commissioner commended the operatives for their professionalism and dedication, while reassuring residents of Nasarawa State of the command’s continued commitment to tackling crime and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
