ADC CANDIDATE COMMITS TO ISSUE-BASED CAMPAIGN IN EKITI

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Ekiti State2026 election, Dare Bejide, has stated that the party will run an issue-based campaign.
Bejide, a former Nigerian High Commissioner to Canada, said the party is preparing to unveil its campaign and strategic committees for the election, while condemning the removal and defacement of his posters, allegedly by agents of the governing party.
Speaking to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, the ADC candidate expressed confidence in the party’s chances, citing public dissatisfaction with the All Progressives Congress government in the state and ADC’s determination to address existing challenges and improve life for the people of Ekiti.
Bejide, a former Secretary to the State Government, said, “We will start our campaign in the first week of April. Our agenda is to campaign effectively for two and a half months.”
“We will not hold jamborees, hire crowds, or gather party members just for the sake of a rally.
“During the campaign, we will explain to the people why they should choose ADC over the APC government, which has caused them hardship.
“Our campaign will be peaceful. We will avoid personal attacks and insults, focusing entirely on issues that matter to the people,” Bejide said.
“We have observed significant gaps in the system, particularly in infrastructural development and the general lack of public confidence in the government.
“Many people feel that the government is virtually non-existent and believe its main purpose is merely to receive allocations from Abuja and distribute them,” Bejide said.
“We will ensure that people feel the presence of government. For us, the campaign is an opportunity to outline our stance on key issues, highlight existing gaps, and explain what we plan to do if elected,” Bejide said.

He accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) government of being intolerant toward the opposition, adding, “At the moment, they are tearing down our posters and have explicitly instructed that our party should not be allowed to use any spaces for billboards or posters.
“We will still engage with the traditional institutions to discuss these issues. Ekiti State belongs to all of us,” he noted.
Bejide, however, urged the APC to create a peaceful, violence-free environment before, during, and after the election.
Responding to Governor Biodun Oyebanji
“You cannot give what you do not have. If a party is not at peace internally, how can it preach peace to the people?
“In our party, the ADC, we held well-contested primaries, and a candidate emerged. As the candidate, I have reconciled with the other contestants, and we are united.
“But in the APC, disputes are still in court, and I expect them to remain there even after the election. The APC must commit to peaceful campaigns,” Bejide said.
