Former Liverpool FC manager Jürgen Klopp has hailed Mohamed Salah as “irreplaceable” following the forward’s decision to leave the club at the end of the season.

Salah, 33, will conclude a remarkable spell at Anfield, having joined from AS Roma in 2017.

During his time with the Reds, the Egyptian international scored 255 goals, cementing his place among the club’s all-time leading scorers.

Speaking to BBC Sport on Friday, Klopp praised Salah’s contributions and professionalism, describing him as one of the finest players he has ever managed.

“Salah is an outstanding professional. He has set entirely new benchmarks for a footballer in terms of work ethic and dedication to recovery,” Klopp said.

The German coach acknowledged that finding a replacement for Salah would be a daunting task for the club.

“Yes, a player of this calibre is irreplaceable. That’s always the case. There will be a gap, and eventually someone will step in to fill it,” he added.

Klopp, however, encouraged Liverpool to adjust their approach rather than seek a direct replacement for Salah.

“If it’s impossible, why force it? Just bring in players and play the kind of football that can succeed,” he said.

During their time together, Klopp and Salah guided Liverpool FC to major honours, including the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League, among others.

Reflecting on Salah’s legacy, Klopp acknowledged that his accomplishments may be hard to replicate.

“The goals he scored and the standards he established will remain unmatched in the modern Premier League era,” he said.

Salah’s exit signals the end of an era at Liverpool FC, as the club prepares to move forward without one of its greatest-ever players.

When asked if it was the right time for Salah to leave with a year remaining on his contract, Klopp described the arrangement as a “fair deal.”

“It’s not my decision to make, but I believe it’s right that an agreement was reached. The whole arrangement has been fair—an exceptional player, exceptional numbers, and of course, he earned well,” Klopp said.

“Now he can move wherever he chooses, and the club will identify and bring in other players, which is completely fine. After all these years, there should be no hard feelings, and from my perspective, I don’t see any,” the German added.

Salah had announced on Wednesday that he would leave Liverpool FC at the end of the current season, marking next year as the first campaign since 2016 that the club will start without the Egyptian forward in their squad.
